Text Box: A written evaluation of your child’s progress will be sent home the week of February 23rd.  Please review, sign, and return the progress report by the date that will be given.  Conferences are optional.  Should your child’s teacher feel a conference is needed, a note will be included with the evaluation.  If you would like to schedule a conference, please request the need in writing and include your concerns.  PreK parents will also receive a form asking whether they do or do not want us to send a copy of their child’s Progress Report to the Medfield Public Schools.

Text Box: We would love to have an afternoon program for both PreK and Nursery classes.  We need a minimum of 5 students to start a class.  If you know any families who may be interested, please let them know.

Also note, our Nursery program includes children who are 2.9 years of age (as of August 31st 2009). We are happy to include children who are 2.9 with the understanding that they will need 2 years of Nursery school before being age eligible for our PreK program.

As always, thank you for your kind words about our school that has sent many of your friends for a visit to our classroom!

Text Box: Medfield Children’s Center on South Street has openings for the Toddler Class (15 months to 2.8 years old as of August 31st).

We’ve had the cutest toddlers over the years!  It is a great program for our youngest “students”!  There’s time to play, sing, learn to share, snuggle up on a teacher’s lap to listen to stories, catch bubbles, create art…oh, the fun!

If you’re interested in the program and need the childcare (2 day, 9:00-3:00 minimum is required), please call Robin Holland (MCC Owner/Director) at 508-359-4239.  She’d love to talk to you and explain the program.

Text Box: Thank you to everyone who labels everything in their child’s lunch!  We truly appreciate the time you take to do it.  It makes lunch time go more smoothly when we can clearly tell what food and drinks belong to each child.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for labeling!

  Winter Wear

Text Box: I know you’ve read this before, but with the winter weather here, it really helps at school if you send your child with outerwear that he/she can manage well by himself/herself (ex. mittens vs. gloves).  We are working with the children on being independent and doing things for themselves that we know they are capable of.  Life is so busy and there always seems to be somewhere to go in a hurry, but if you could encourage your child to get dressed for outside play on their own, it would be of great help in the classroom…and children are so proud of themselves when they master new skills!  The teachers have to assist up to 12 excited children who are eager to get outside, especially when there’s snow, so to have children manage at least some of their outerwear would be great!  The teachers thank you, and the friends who are dressed, in line, and ready to go right away, thank you too!

                                                                         Winter Wear Cont.

Text Box: Please label all winter wear when possible.  Your child’s name should be in his/her coat, boots, mittens, hat, snowpants, etc.  There are a lot of children getting ready for outside play at the same time, so it is very easy to lose or mix up winter wear (a lot of it looks the same!).  Please place them in a labeled bag, separate from your child’s backpack.  Thank you!
     Releases

Text Box: We love that you, the moms and dads, are friends and that you’re willing to watch each other’s younger children when they are asleep in the car, when the weather is bad, etc.   We will be happy to release your child to another parent to meet you in the parking lot, but please just give a quick call giving us your permission (legally we cannot release your child without written or verbal permission).

We understand the convenience and the time saved by keeping your little ones in the car, but please make sure someone is there to watch them.  We don’t mind the calls, so do it as often as you need to, just please let us know when it’s a matter of releasing your child to someone other than yourself.  Thanks!

Text Box: If you and your child are early planners and have already bought valentines, please sign each with your child’s name, but do not address cards to specific classmates.  Thanks for your help!

More information will
      be coming!

                                                                                                                                                 Valentines

Text Box: We get a lot of questions about school cancellations…sorry if past newsletters weren’t clear.  We understand it may be confusing when the News reports no preschool, or school delays, for the Medfield Public School. Those cancellations/delays refer to the public school’s preschool/nursery program.  It does not apply to
Medfield Children’s Center.

We close only when the entire public school system is closed.
If there is a delay, we are still open the same hours.

Text Box: Nursery Families…

The teachers have kept the kids happy, singing, and learning, with music and movement CDs, songs, and finger plays, but we miss having someone visit on a monthly basis, as we’ve had in the past, to enrich our program with music.  Unfortunately, the teacher we had in the past has not returned our numerous calls, so Robin Holland, MCC’s owner/director, has been busy looking for a new music teacher.  I’m happy to report that she had the opportunity to observe two teachers, and will decide who best fits our program and will then schedule her to visit on a monthly basis.

A decision was made on Monday, January 26th.
We are thrilled to welcome Elaine Kessler to Medfield Children’s Center!

Elaine’s first visit will be on February 10th.
The dates of her other visits will be noted on the curriculum calendar.

Thank you for your understanding and patience
as we looked for a new music teacher!
