Text Box: 2009-2010 Nursery Class

It’s hard to believe it’s only October and our AM Nursery class for next year is already filled.

If you have a child you would like to enroll in the AM class, please tell me as soon as possible and I will be happy to put him/her on our wait list.  I can’t promise a spot will open , but things can change, and in the past spots have become available.  If you’re planning to participate in the lottery for the Integrated Program, but would like a spot with us if your child does not get into the Integrated Program, please let me know of your plans as soon as possible and I will put him/her on our wait list.

We would also love to have an afternoon class for both PreK and Nursery classes, so please know that is also an option.  We need a minimum of 5 students to start a class.  If you know families who may be interested, please let them know.

Also note, our Nursery program includes children who are 2.9 years of age (as of August 31st 2009). We are happy to include children who are 2.9 with the understanding that they will need 2 years of Nursery school before being age eligible of our PreK program.

ABSENCES____________________________________________________

Thank you for keeping us up-to-date with the illnesses our children have been exposed to by calling in each absence!  Thankfully, we’re off to a healthy start!  Our fingers are crossed that everyone stays well!

BACKPACKS____________________________________________________

Please check your child’s backpack daily for any mail a teacher may send home.  Also, please make sure he/she has a change of clothes that are the right size and for the current season.  Thank you!

BOOK ORDERS__________________________________________________

WOW!  Your book orders are AMAZING!  We love to see so many home libraries growing with wonderful books!  We hope they bring you and your child hours of happy reading, conversations, sharing, and memories.  Reading is one of the best gifts a parent can give!

LABELS_______________________________________________________

Please label everything when needed and when possible.  Please label all backpacks, lunchboxes, coats, etc. clearly so teachers can easily identify who things belong to if there is a mix-up or misunderstanding.  We had a lot of beautiful “treasures” in our Lost-and-Found box last year.  We will keep Lost-and-Found items for a few weeks and then we will have to dispose of them.

LUNCH BUNCH___________________________________________________

If your child attends Lunch Bunch, please label everything in his/her lunchbox…sandwich containers, yogurt, juice boxes, water bottles, spoons, ice packs, etc.  The kids open their lunchboxes and take things out quickly, often before the teachers can see what belongs to each person.  We want to make sure that each child is eating and drinking what is sent for them.  We don’t want it to be time consuming, so simply writing your child’s name with a permanent marker works well.  Thanks so much for your help!

MAIL POCKETS__________________________________________________

Please check your child’s mail pocket daily.

PARTIES_______________________________________________________

Thank you for the deeeeelicious Halloween treats and fun party goods!

SIBLINGS______________________________________________________

We love when siblings of our students visit at drop-offs and pick-ups, but during certain school celebrations with your MCC child, we may ask that siblings do not attend. In those cases, it will be noted on the invitation, curriculum sheet, and/or newsletter. Please ask about infant siblings who are still young enough to stay in car seats.  Siblings are welcome for informal holiday “shows,” but for safety reasons, they must remain with you at all times.  If you have any questions please talk to Sharon Maillet.  Thanks for your understanding!

SNEAKERS_____________________________________________________

Please send your child to school wearing SNEAKERS or shoes that are comfortable and SAFE for active play.  NO open-backed shoes, flip-flops, crocs, etc.  They are not safe for climbing the rungs of the slide’s ladder or the climbing structure.

WEATHER ALERT________________________________________________

Hopefully this is too early to mention, but juuuuust in case (dare I say it) snow strikes in November…if winter storms cause school cancellations, please listen to local radio stations or watch the news.  We follow the Medfield Public Schools and cancel school only when the entire school system closes.  If the Medfield Public Schools have a delay or cancels Nursery or Kindergarten classes, we are still open the same hours.

WINTER WEATHER_______________________________________________

Brrrr, winter weather is not far away!  Please send your child to school with appropriate (labeled) outerwear that is warm enough for outside play! The teachers may be assisting up to 12 excited children who are eager to get outside, so please select items which your child can easily and independently manage.
