FUNNY THINGS KIDS SAY

Mrs. Dowd’s class was admiring her necklace.  She said politely, “Thank you, I got it from the dollar store”.  One of the little boys replied, “Then it must be really cheap”.

One of our PM PreK kids asked Mrs. Lupo to please make him another picture for him to color of the “Christmas Dreidel”.

One of Mrs. Dowd’s young ladies announced at the snack table that when she grows up she’s going to be a princess and go to Kindergarten.”

A boy in Mrs. Dowd’s class had a really cool light up baseball glove for Show and Tell.  I asked him where he got it and he told me, “Dick’s the baseball store and I’m even allowed to wear it too.”

DIRECTOR’S CORNER

For those of you who will be with us during February vacation, please call the school phone (508 359-4239) if you have any doubts about the weather.  Our fingers are crossed (and toes too) that it will NOT be an issue.

During  the vacation weeks, Feb. & April, we like to “mix things up” a little.  Your child may not get the same teacher he/she has during the regular school year, but please be assured, all the kids at MCC know each teacher quite well and should be comfortable with whomever they are with.  Please let me know if you have any questions!!

We would like to update our list of parent recommendations.  It doesn’t happen often, but at times when a potential family visits us, they do ask me for some recommendations.  I have names of families who’ve been with us in the past, but I’d like to have some current families.  Anyone who is willing to be contacted by potential new families, please email me with how you would like to be reached, email, phone, etc.  Many thanks to you in advance.

CLASSROOM CORNER

TODDLER CLASS

Because of all the snow and cold weather, we have been staying in more  But we have brought the outside in!!  We have made snowmen, painted with ice-cubes and colored snow.  We’ve made polar bears and igloos.  We are soo looking forward to the sunshine.

MISS KRISTIN’S NURSERY CLASS

We have had another busy month in our classroom.  We’ve been learning letters, numbers, shapes and colors.  The kids have loved experiencing our Mystery Box which usually goes along with our Letter of the Day.  During the many cold and frosty days inside we have played Freeze Dancing, Parachute Games, Scarves and Bubbles.  A great time was had by all.  And boy, oh boy, do we LOVE to sing!! The children love to learn new songs and sing our old favorites too!

MISS ELIZABETH’S NURSERY CLASS

Hope you had a good a January as we did in our class  We had fun in the snow.  The children loved Snow and Ice Week, especially painting with ice cubes.  Friendship Week has been lots of fun too.  What’s not to like about making friends?  February will be lots of fun too.  Be on the look out for a sign up sheet for our Valentine’s Party that we’ll celebrate on Friday the 13th.  I wanted to ask all of my parents a huge favor.  When you are doing Valentine cards for the kids in the class, please DO NOT write any names on the envelopes.  If you have just your child’s name on the “from” column, then the kids can easily pass out the valentines.  I‘d greatly appreciate it.  Thank you.

NURSERY PM CLASS

The Big hall kids have been very busy in the afternoons.  We’ve been enjoying some fun stories like “Caps for Sale”, Puppies in the Snow”, “It Looked like Spilt Milk”, “A Whistle for Willie” and “Rooster’s Off to See the World”.  Though we have been stuck inside more than we like, we’ve enjoyed some parachute games and creative play like assembling a train from chairs and taking turns to be the conductor.  We’ve been to MANY fun places.

MS. WENDY’S PreK CLASS

We spent most of the month working on Progress Reports, and still find time to cover the letters “L” and “M” and did lots of fun projects.  We will be saving projects here and there from now until May when we have our Annual Art Show Extravaganza.  At that time you will get a chance to see all of your little artists work displayed on the wall.  Despite the cold and snowy weather we have had a chance to have some fun outside.  Thank you to all the parents for remembering to bring in the right winter gear!  The children thank you too!  Looking ahead to February, we will be having a special event in honor of Valentine’s Day on Tuesday February 3rd from 6-7:30.  Also, look for the sign up sheet for our party on Friday, February 13th.

PRE-KINDERGARTEN PM CLASS

We have been very busy having lots of fun in the afternoon.  We have been lucky enough to go outside some of the time.  Also, we have been busy making some fun projects.  We talked about the winter, warm clothing and how important it is to recycle.  We even had a week of just playing games which was a blast!  We look forward to having just as much fun in February.

MRS. DOWD’S PreK CLASS

Frigid weather and snow – wow, isn’t January fun?!?!  We have been getting outside as much as possible, but sometimes it was just TOO cold.  We had plenty to keep us busy inside.  Two whole weeks were dedicated to Progress Reports.  Be sure to congratulate your child on a job well done!  We introduced the letters “L” and “M”.  What a wonderful job everyone is doing on the large collage letters for our classroom.  Please check them out sometime, they are a fantastic, colorful addition to our class.  Be on the look out for our special night in February – “Sweets with your Sweetheart”.  Think spring training, Go Sox!!

MRS. LUPO’S TRANSITIONAL CLASS

We spent the first two weeks of the New Year working on Progress Report workbooks and doing table top crafts, and getting outside when the weather cooperated!!  The last two weeks were very busy, we had lots to cover; Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, our new president, Barack Obama, better know to our class as Rock Obama, our Solar System, our Oceans and last but not least the letters “N” and “O”.  Believe it or not, we even had time to celebrate Chinese New Year!  The children had lots of fun learning about outer space and our oceans; they asked great questions and really grasped the concepts of space and planets.  Maybe there is a future scientist or astronaut in the group?!?!  We also had lots of fun learning about the oceans and discussing our favorite ocean creatures.  The children made GREAT lists of words that begin with the letters “N” and “O” - please keep reinforcing beginning sounds at home, it’s working!  Keep sending in the snow clothes in a separate bag please.  I’m finding some of our wonderful creations are getting ruined by wet gloves and boots.  We will continue to try to get outside whenever possible.  Look for our Valentine Party sign up outside the classroom door; we’re having a cookie decorating party!
