FUNNY PAGES – ALL ABOUT THE TODDLERSJ
Each month, the toddler teachers put the seasonal books up top on a book shelf where the kids can’t reach them. They have PLENTY of books they can read on their own. When the teachers pull down a book to read, they always tell the kids to be very, very careful. One of the little girls in the class asked Miss Donna if she would please read the careful book to herJ
The todd’s daily project happened to be a menorah. As they were coloring them, one of them asked whose birthday it was, and were they going to blow out the candles.
One of the little boys is potty – training and doing a great job. Deb brought him to the bathroom to try to go. He did try, but said to Deb, “It’s not working now.” So Deb brought him back to class. In just a few minutes later, he asked Deb to go again. She brought him, and he did go. As he was going to the bathroom he said to Deb, “It’s working now!”
CLASSROOM CORNER
Toddler Class
What an exciting month we had! It was full of Holiday Cheer!! We did lots of “gold” sparkles and holiday projects. We felt so much joy while watching the faces of the children while reading them Santa and other holiday stories. This is our favorite time of year with the children. It was so great to see everyone at Candy Cane Lane. We want to thank all of “our” parents for everything, and we wish you all a very Healthy and Happy New YearJ
Kristin Masterson’s Nursery Class
Hello Old Man Winter! Our class sure has enjoyed the chilly weather on the playground. Thank you all for making sure your children are warm and cozy with their cute hats and mittens/gloves. We have been busy reading many different holiday stories and learning some new winter songs about cold, snowy weather and believe it or not, the children sure are excited about all the snowflakes to come!! Thank you for all your support!!
Elizabeth Caputo’s Nursery Class
I can’t believe that December has come and gone. The children, Trish and I had a great time celebrating Christmas and all the other holidays celebrated here and throughout the world. We loved reading the Jan Brett stories. Now that winter is upon us, I would like to remind all my parents to pack labeled mittens, hats, snow pants, and boots. We love going outside when it is not to cold. Now, that January is here, I will be working on progress reports. You will receive them late February. Always remember if you need to talk or ask any questions please feel free to call me between 1:00-2:00 Monday thru Friday. Thanks and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Wendy Bennett’s PreK Class
What a festive and fun-filled month December turned out to be. We learned all about Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa and made some great holiday projects for each holiday. We especially had fun making potato pancakes and playing with dreidels. We worked so hard on our holiday gifts for the parents and sure hope you loved them. We also covered the letters I, J and K and are doing a great job coming up with words that begin with those letters. The fun continued with Candy Cane Lane (a great time was had by all); Ms. Sarah from Stony Brook, Ms. Heather (Simons’ godmother) volunteering her time with us; and our holiday party where we all enjoyed delicious treats. Thank you to all the parents for sharing your amazing kids with me. Happy New Year!
Cindy Dowd’s PreK Class
There has been lots of fun, busy activities happening in our PreK classroom this month. What fun we had making beautiful, sparkly decorations and presents (I am sure they are a wonderful addition to your homes!) We introduced the letters I, J, and K and spent a lot of time learning about each child’s special holiday celebrations and traditions. We do try to get outside every day, weather permitting, so please make sure your child has all the appropriate outerwear. I hope you all have wonderful holidays. Enjoy your fantastic children. Happy New YearJ
Maureen Lupo’s Transitional Class
We had another busy month in our classroom. We learned about December holidays and found time to make long lists of words that begin with the letters K, L and M. We did many projects involving all of the December holidays and talked about how much they were alike, they are all about family, friends and food. They are also about lights and candles, because it is so dark in December. We are getting very excited about our countdowns to Winter, Hanukkah and Christmas. We also found time to learn about our letters of the month. Most of the children are doing a great job thinking of words that begin with the letter of the week. Our lists are getting very long!! Thanks in advance for your donations to our class holiday party. Have a great holiday break. See you all next yearJ
HAPPY NEW YEAR – 2008!!
