PARENTS’ CORNER
1. Summer Program registration is still open. Please see Robin if you need an extra form for yourself or a friend. We ask that you return your applications in as soon as possible so we can make our summer staff schedule up.
2. The change of season colds are coming! We would really appreciate it if you kept your child home if he/she is not feeling well.
Though we encourage sharing, germs are the exception to the rule! Thank you for your understandingJ
3. As a reminder, please do not park in Lord’s parking lot on the evening of the Art Show. There is parking in the municipal lot in back
of Master’s Touch. We are looking forward to seeing everyone there; the children have been working very hard!
DIRECTOR’S CORNER
PLAY GROUND REQUEST - Finally, spring is here! Therefore, we will make every effort to play outdoors each class session, weather permitting. Children MUST wear rubber-soled shoes for outdoor play. Clogs and sandals, though fashionable, are very hard for the children to run in. We see lots of falls when kids are wearing these shoes, so for safety’s sake, throw a pair of sneaks in your child’s backpack and we can help him/her change right before outside time. Thanks!
An enormous thank you goes out to the Mirken family who so generously set up the “meet and greet” with Kevin Faulk. We can’t thank you enough for doing this for us. Kevin is a really nice man; he had tons of patience with our little guys, and even read them a story. He’s a good sportJ
SPRINGTIME BIRTHDAY WISHES TO: Brayden L. (5/4), Henry (5/22), Sophie (5/12), Michael (5/5), Andrew (5/27), Brady G. (5/27), Kayley (5/24), Hannah (5/16), Sophia (5/7), Austin (5/23), Kirsten 5/27), Jack (5/11). Maybe the Red Sox will win one for Miss Elizabeth on (5/6) in honor of her birthday!! Best wishes to all!!
FUNNY PAGES:
The upstairs kids were coming inside after their recess time. One little boy came into the office and said, “Boy it’s hot out there, I’m sweatin like a pig.”
Ms. Wendy’s class was talking about the Celtics one day. She asked the class what the Celtics played. One boy piped up quicly, “The Lakers”.
The little boy assigned to decorate the letter “T” is Mrs. Dowd’s class told me, “I decorated it with toilet paper, but don’t worry, there’s nothing on it.”
I was telling the Big Hall kids that Miss Elizabeth and I are so old that we used to listen to stories and songs on big round things called records. One loyal little lady said, “Miss Elizabeth, you aren’t old, you’re new.”
One of the toddlers was told by her mom to say goodbye to her school. She looked at her mom and said, “Mom, my school doesn’t talk!
CLASSROOM CORNER
Toddlers Class – We are so excited the hot weather has FINALLY arrived, now let’s hope it stays with us. We had lots of fun doing rainy projects for our April curriculum. The most exciting thing that happened was that the Easter Bunny came to deliver eggs to us! What a wonderful surprise. We are so looking forward to resuming on daily walks; we did do a great job of getting out during the colder weather though. Hopefully our friends the turtles will be back soon at the pond, we can’t wait to visit them.
Kristin’s Nursery Class – I hope everyone had a happy Easter and Passover; the children had many wonderful stories to share at Circle Time about they liked to eat and where they went. We are continuing to practice and sing the “fish songs”, they are classroom favorites! For our PM friends, we’ve really enjoyed inside activities lately such as obstacle courses, freeze dancing and the bean bag pass. The children have also really liked mixing colors and doing simple art projects that just involve some coloring. We look forward in the morning and the afternoon to many fun days outside on the playground playing new games in the sun.
Elizabeth’s Nursery Class – Wow! May is finally arriving along with the sunshine and longer days. We had so much fun in April. The kids created flowers in preparation for summer. We learned a lot about rain and clouds and puddles. They loved making puddles by blowing through straws. Easter time was also a lot of fun. I loved the Hand Print Bunnies. The kids loved to have their hands painted. Now that we are outside more, with this fabulous weather please remember to put sunscreen on your child before school. If you bring some in we will put it on before we go out in the afternoon. Also, if any parent would like to come in someday to read a story, just let me know so we can set up a good day and time. The children would LOVE it. Happy May!
Ms. Wendy’s PreK Class –We had such a busy April! It was filled with lots of good things. We loved having the chicks in our room as well as a surprise visit from the Easter Bunny. We have been very busy working on the letters “U”, “V” and “W”, and have made some unbelievable projects that you will see at our Art Show on May 13th. We have been continuing to learn some Spanish words, 27 so far! Muy bien. One more great thing we’ve done is watching our flowering gardens grow; wait till you see them!! Please see me if you are interested in coming in to volunteer your time. We would love to have you. We look forward to enjoying some warm spring days, the Art Show on May 13th, and Graduation on June 10th.
Mrs. Dowd’s PreK Class – Wow, we have been so busy in our class. We introduced the letters “U”, “V”, “W” and “X”. We are almost done-2 letters to go!! Wacky Wednesday was “W”ild and “W”onderful. The Medfield High School Child Development class came twice to play board games they made and to blow bubbles with the children; two fabulous visits. A Big Thank You for participating in our “Favorite Book” program. The children were so proud to have their special readers visit. Please note: Important Dates: Art Show – May 13th 6:00-7:30; Graduation – June 10th 9:30 AM (kids here at 9:00)
Mrs. Lupo’s PreK/Transitional Class - We’ve finished the ABC’s; we had a great month of April with “W”, “X”, “Y” and “Z”. Spring has sprung both in our classroom and outside. We spent a lot of time this month talking about spring and noticed how quietly it arrived. We learned about all of the spring time activities from birds and bugs to frogs and seeds. We started the month by hatching praying mantises and ended with growing our own flowers. The final month of school will focus on numbers and PreK graduation!! If you haven’t marked your calendars yet make sure you have our two final events in bright ink. Our world famous (at least in our minds) Art Show Extravaganza is May 13th at 6:00 pm and our PreK graduation is Wednesday, June 10th. See you there!!!
I received this e-mail a while ago. It ‘s perfect to pass out with the May newsletter (Mother’s Day). Enjoy!!
Someday when your children
are old enough to understand the logic that motivates a parent, tell them, as my
mean Mom told me: I loved you enough ... to ask where you were going, with whom,
and what time you would be home.
I loved you enough to be silent and let you discover that your new best friend
was a creep.
I loved you enough to stand over you for 2 hours while you cleaned your room, a
job that should’ve taken 15 minutes.
I loved you enough to let you see anger, disappointment, and tears in my eyes.
Children must learn that their parents aren't perfect.
I loved you enough to let you assume the responsibility for your actions even
when the penalties were so harsh they almost broke my heart.
But most of all, I loved you enough ... to say NO when I knew you would hate me
for it.
Those were the most difficult battles of all. I'm glad I won them, because in
the end you won, too. And someday when your children are old enough to
understand the logic that motivates parents, you’ll tell them.
Was your Mom mean? I know
mine was. We had the meanest mother in the whole world! While other kids ate
candy for breakfast, we had to have cereal, eggs, and toast. When others had a
Pepsi and a Twinkie for lunch, we had to eat sandwiches. And you can guess our
mother fixed us a dinner that was different from what other kids had, too.
Mom insisted on knowing where we were at all times. You'd think we were convicts
in a prison. She had to know who our friends were, and what we were doing with
them.
She insisted that if we said we would be gone for an hour, we would be gone for
an hour or less.
We were ashamed to admit it, but she had the nerve to break the Child Labor Laws
by making us work. We had to wash the dishes, make the beds, learn to cook,
vacuum the floor, do laundry, empty the trash and all sorts of cruel jobs. I
think she would lie awake at night thinking of more things for us to do.
She always insisted on us telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but
the truth. By the time we were teenagers, she could read our minds and had eyes
in the back of her head. Then, life was really tough!
Mom wouldn't let our friends just honk the horn when they drove up. They had to
come up to the door so she could meet them. While everyone else could date when
they were 12 or 13, we had to wait until we were 16.
Because of our mother, we missed out on lots of things other kids experienced.
None of us have ever been caught shoplifting, vandalizing other's property or
ever arrested for any crime. It was all her fault.
Now that we have left home, we are all educated, honest adults. We are doing our
best to be mean parents just like Mom was.
I think that is what's wrong with the world today. It just doesn't have enough
mean moms!
